Use of different ports in a laptop

Laptops have become an integral part of our life and we are able to perform wide range of tasks using these laptops. There are different components in a laptop .In a laptop, port serves as an interface between the computer and other computers or peripheral devices. In another words, a port generally refers to the part of connection available for connection between one computer to peripherals like input and output ones. While buying a new laptop one should have a clear idea about the ports and how it will be useful. For eg. Let us take USB 3.0 .This is faster than USB 2.0 hence while looking for a laptop make sure they have USB 3.0 feature. Having knowledge about these things will help you choose a good and useful laptop model. USB Port:- Most of us are aware of this port and we have used it several times. These ports are used for connecting lot of other peripherals like printer, scanner, music players etc. and can be used even for charging mobile phones or as a medium for data transfer. There are two versions usb 2.0 which has transfer speed of 480Mbps and USB 3.0 with a higher speed of 5Gbps. HDMI port:- High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a conduit through which devices can transmit and receive high-definition (HD) audio and video between external sources and receivers. Laptops with HDMI ports allow you to project high-quality video and audio onto HD-capable devices such as televisions and audio receivers. Thunderbolt port:- Thunderbolt is twice as fast as USB 3.0 with data transfer speeds of 10Gbps (gigabits per second).Thunderbolt 3 is a superset solution which includes USB 3.1 (10Gbps), and adds 40Gbps Thunderbolt and DisplayPort 1.2 from a single USB-C port. This enables any dock, display, or data device to connect to a Thunderbolt 3 port, fulfilling the promise of the USB-C connector.Memory Card Reader:- As most of us might know it is used for inserting memory cards.SD or XD cards can be inserted and pictures or videos can be stored or transferred from the card to laptop or vice versa. This allows you to take pics in your camera and transfer the pics directly to your laptop without much hassle. Ethernet port:- This is used to connect laptop to local area network like Ethernet. Also known by name RJ45. External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (eSATA) :- This is an extension to the Serial ATA standard that enables SATA drives to be attached externally. Prior to eSATA, external hard drives were connected via USB 2.0 or FireWire. VGA connector:- The VGA port on your laptop enables you to connect it to a TV or a bigger standalone display which supports VGA input. Even though this is an old feature even now this is useful. With the advancement in technology more and more features are added and already available ones are improved .These changes can be reflected in latest laptops. Apple service Qatar keeps track of all new technology advancements and we make sure all latest technology devices or peripherals are available at our store.
